An Opportune Visit to the Ninth Circuit
Last week, I joined 18 GGU law students on a tour of the Ninth Circuit courthouse in San Francisco. Led by a friendly and knowledgeable staff attorney named Kathleen Butterfield, the tour gave us some beautiful vantage points of different courtrooms, hallways and meeting rooms used by the Judges, as well as fun and fascinating facts about the inner workings of the Court. We also got to hear from a third-year GGU student doing an externship at the Ninth Circuit. Our visit was timely, coming on the heels of the Proposition 8 ruling and the eve of the Proposition 209 hearing. Our visit was also timely given the recent confirmation of GGU’s own alumna Morgan Christen to the Ninth Circuit. Stay tuned for more of these Catching A Glimpse visits to different legal settings. You’ll find word about them in Law School News and on LCSonline.
