Last year, I dressed as a fortune teller for Halloween. Despite being armed with my trusty Magic 8 Ball and a big bowl of fortune cookies, it was clear that my talents for mind reading and prediction were limited at best.
While Halloween is a once-a-year occurrence, job seeking students and graduates often share with me their attempts at mind reading as they try to interpret the behavior of the employers with whom they have recently interviewed.
