The ABA Annual Meeting is coming to San Francisco Aug 8-13—Don’t miss it!

by Elisa Laird-Metke
Assistant Director for Law Student Services and Law Career Services

The ABA Annual Meeting is a great place to explore legal career options, attend talks on a wide range of topics, and meet and make connections with practicing attorneys. Students pay $75—a fraction of the regular admission cost—and may then attend any of the nearly 200 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions for free! Take advantage of the opportunity to attend this national conference, right in your own backyard. Registration is available onsite at the Moscone Center.

If you don’t have the funds to attend the main conference, there is a completely free event available, as well. On Thursday, August 8 from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM the Young Lawyers Division of the ABA will be hosting “ABA CareerAdvice LIVE! At this session, ten experienced legal employment consultants will discuss topics including:
  • Branding Yourself and Marketing Your Practice
  • Making a Positive First Impression
  • Networking Internally And Externally for Good Work and Good Mentoring
  • Interviewing Wisely in a Challenging Market
  • Getting Effective Feedback from Your Supervisor
  • Understanding and Leveraging Your Strengths in the Workplace
The full-group session will be followed by small group discussions and individual Q&As.
This is a great opportunity to learn from experts, network, and get free expert career advice! Register at www.abalive.eventbrite.com. Conference registration isn’t required to attend this session, but space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
