Did you participate in a study group for a law school class? Perhaps you and a few classmates met regularly to talk through tough cases or concepts and encourage each other that yes, you really could master the Rule Against Perpetuities. Maybe you were part of a 1L peer mentor group that you found helpful and rewarding. Do you miss that sense of camaraderie and support?
There’s a burgeoning movement to create that same kind of social network beyond law school classes, whether it’s working attorneys meeting to provide each other professional support and friendship or bar takers meeting to keep each other focused and upbeat while spending so much time alone studying for the bar exam.
At LCS, we think this concept can and should be extended to the job search! Why not have a small group of peers get together every other week or so to talk about how applications are going, review each other’s materials for typos, give updates on job search status, and be a sounding board for what is or isn’t working? Knowing someone else is going to check in on you is a fantastic way to stay motivated if your job search isn’t going as well as you’d hoped.
If you want help setting up a small group, whether for law school placements or post-bar employment, LCS can help you find like-minded peers who you can meet with.
