Loud and Proud

by Elana Konstant
Assistant Director of Public Interest Programs

Landing a job after weeks or months of searching is incredibly gratifying and exciting. In the midst of that euphoria, try not to overlook all those that aided you in the quest. Remember to share the job joy. Circling back to your contacts and letting them know about your success is an integral component of networking. Besides the fact that happiness is contagious, as a working attorney you may serve a more specialized role to some in your network. By alerting your contacts about the new position, you may be increasing opportunities for client / colleague / mentor development. If nothing else, you will certainly get a very nice, congratulatory email or phone call from someone at LCS (hint, hint).

Once you are established in your job, don’t forget to pay the good fortune forward by evaluating your work experience for other students to review. The evaluations may be submitted anonymously, but LCS hopes you will make yourself available to be contacted by other students if you found the experience remarkable in any way. To complete an evaluation, login to LCSonline, click the "Student Employment Evaluations" link (found on the homepage under shortcuts). Simply click the "Add New" button to fill out a survey.

Alumni can give back by agreeing to conduct informational interviews with students/alumni, participating in GGU events and placing any employment openings with LCS. When you create an AlumniConnect profile, or update an existing one, checking the box next to ‘Alumni Career Network’ will indicate your willingness to be contacted for informational interviews and to speak on campus for GGU’s career workshops.

We look forward to hearing from you.
