Countdown to Spring Break

by Susanne Aronowitz
Associate Dean for Law Career Services

Spring break is an excellent time to catch up on your career-related New Year's resolutions. We encourage all students to schedule at least one informational interview, attend a CLE program, engage in some pro bono work or participate in a bar association activity during spring break week.

Most of these suggestions require a little bit of advance planning. Use your time this week to send email invitations to attorneys for informational interviews, or to research the availability of CLEs, pro bono projects or bar association activities. To help you research these opportunities, consider using the following resources:

  • GGU Alumni Directory (access info available on LCSonline)
  • Event calenders in the Daily Journal and BASF Bulletin (at LCS)
  • Golden Gate Law LinkedIn Group
  • www.lawstudentprobono.org
  • Professional Association Handout (available on LCSonline)
  • Articles in the "Article Spot" at LCS detailing the benefits and strategies of informational interview and bar association activities for law students
Using some of your "down time" to expand your network and increase your understanding of the legal profession will be a worthwhile investment in your professional success. If you need some direction in getting started, contact LCS at (415) 442-6625 to set up an appointment with a career advisor.

After spring break, be sure to let us know what you did and how it went. We also encourage you to share your experiences with other students via the LCS blog.
